As real estate prices continue to rapidly outpace income nationwide, many  working class families across the country find the American dream of home ownership out of reach. However, in Northeast Oklahoma, Green Country Habitat for Humanity is  working to change that dynamic and address the shortage of more than 5,000 affordable housing units in the Tulsa area. As the organization’s president and CEO, Cameron Walker’s team of dedicated nonprofit professionals depends on community-minded partners that are equally passionate about creating opportunities and improving lives.

In 2015, during Cameron’s first year with the organization, Green Country Habitat built only one new home and remodeled nine more. In 2022, they completed nearly 80 new homes. Understanding the significant challenges that come with growth – particularly for a nonprofit – Cameron pulls tools and strategies from his for-profit experience to push what’s possible for his team.

Expanding Habitat’s reach while keeping the cost of housing low requires creative solutions… that’s where CrossFirst Bank can help. Today, we are partnering with Cameron to finance the construction of a 7-family rental building in North Tulsa. We’re also working to offer highly competitive mortgage rates to Habitat families to make the goal of home ownership even more achievable and affordable. With CrossFirst’s support, these Habitat projects will create a tangible, lasting impact for individual families and entire communities in Green Country.
